Commissioning a memorial or plaque to commemorate a loved one is an emotive process which shouldn’t be rushed. It is important that all parties are happy with the finished stone and that it truly reflects the individual commemorated.
Clients are always welcome to meet Robyn in the studio, where they can often see work on other commissions in progress. Time is taken to discus the proposed memorial in depth; size, colour and texture of stone, suitable materials, any embellishments or carvings required. This is a two way process where the client is encouraged to have as much input into the design as they wish.
Within a fortnight the client will be presented with a hand-drawn scale sketch of the proposal along with a quote for the works (to include installation and cemetery fees). At this stage any changes to design or inscription can easily be made at no additional cost.
Once the client is happy with the design, the necessary application form will be submitted to the relevant burial authority and a deposit of one quarter paid on account, the outstanding balance payable upon completion and installation of the memorial. Completion time is typically between three to six months. During this time clients are always welcome to visit the studio to see their commission in progress.
Enquiries for other lettering and carving commissions are always welcome.
